ALBUQUERQUE, NM- Governor Susana Martinez will participate in the unveiling of the official New Mexico Centennial hot air balloon, created by Scott Appelman and Rainbow Ryders, at a news conference in Albuquerque Thursday morning (May 19, 2011), 7 a.m., at the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum.
Rainbow Ryders has joined with New Mexico Centennial Foundation and the New Mexico Tourism Department as a Founding Sponsor of the New Mexico Statehood Centennial 1912-2012 with the donation of the balloon, which will be inflated prior to the news conference.
Governor Martinez and Scott Appelman will be joined by Tourism Secretary Monique Jacobson, Cultural Affairs Secretary Veronica Gonzales, Jodi Delaney, Director of the New Mexico Centennial, Betty Rivera, Director of Cultural Services for the City of Albuquerque, and Jeff Cooper-Smith, Director of the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum.
Beginning May 22, the Balloon Museum will make its contribution to the State centennial celebration with the exhibit, "A Century of High Flying: Science, Space and Sport." Immediately following the press conference, everyone is welcome to see this work in progress and enjoy all the balloon museum displays.
